The journey that led me to becoming a travel blogger.
I’ve never started a blog before. Personal journals, yes plenty, but a public blog?
Absolutely not.
The thoughts, ideas and memories I scribed into my journal, I kept to myself. Where they were free to thrive without any criticism or judgment. The writings, were my friends, who never let me down.
Well, except for those late nights in college, when I scrambled to complete papers, about things that bored me into eating yet another tub of ice cream– don’t act like I’m the only one who packed on the freshman 15!
I digress.
Writing has always been my … safe place. A stimulating experience where I could express myself and experiment with different writing styles. I could practice my witty jokes and perfect the art of storytelling. Writing was carefree and I loved it.
Then one day I was forced to grow up and pick a career. After trying my hand at a few standard options, I decided to pursue my passion instead. I mean you really can’t call it work if you’re doing what you love, right? Wrong, because creating bodies of work that can be scrutinized brought me immense agony. However I wasn’t getting any younger and the bills started to pile, so I decided it was time to start my career.
The hardest thing I’ve found about blogging thus far is actually doing it. Trying to find the time, inspiration and courage to actually put my experiences into words for the world to read has been… slightly challenging. But I’ve put it off long enough. I mean how else am I going to defeat my fears if I never face them?
Then one day I was forced to grow up and pick a career.
Hockey Hall-of-Famer Wayne Gretzky was once quoted “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” and I’ve literally adopted that as my daily mantra.
So here I am, naked (figuratively, of course) unraveling an epic new adventure for you to read. One where I’ll be charting into unknown territory; writing about my past adventures traveling. The tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way that might make your next excursion a bit easier. And I’ll be documenting my experiences, trials and tribulations as I embark on a journey to, one day hosting my own travel show.
